You have probably heard of Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI), Military Sexual Trauma (MST), Burnpit Lung and others. All can destroy veterans and their families, homes, jobs and even life!

We also work with discharge injustices. Injustices happen – sometimes in error, and many times as cover-ups within the military command system of justice. Our mission (and yours) is to advocate for and assist those veterans who are struggling to adapt to a normal life.

Service continues

So does the need.

For the veterans who served.
For those who will need us next.

Dear Fellow Veteran,

The need for money does not end at the Veterans National Recovery Center.

As memories of the Vietnam War fade, and as some veterans of the Iraq and Afghanistan wars settle into therapy or, so very unfortunately, leave us new challenges from new wars keep arriving.

My dad, a WWII Marine who fought at Tinian, told me as a child that new wars come to America every 20 years or so. In my lifetime, he has been right. The war with Iran has already taken members of my old unit, the 103d Expeditionary Sustainment Command just as the Iraq war took an old friend from that unit, and a member of my first unit, the 1133rd Transportation Company.

We do not yet know how many invisible wounds this war will leave.

PTSD will be the most visible of the invisible wounds.

Moral Injury wounds the inner soul — for example, the service member given bad targeting data who later learns civilians, including children, were killed.

Military Sexual Trauma (MST) has been part of war since the dawn of civilization, even when people do not want to talk about it.

Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) will be a large category. Bigger missiles and drones mean bigger blasts. Even outside the kill pocket, the shock can shake the brain like a bowl of jelly, break synapses, cause memory loss, and later contribute to dementia.

Stateside, a slow national response is almost inevitable. The VA has lost more than 80,000 personnel since its postwar peak, including many of the people trained to counsel and treat newly minted veterans.

During the wind-down of the Iraq and Afghanistan wars, VNRC acted as a finger in the dike for veterans falling through the cracks.
